You can track a key date event against a case by using the Custom Case Dates feature of cManager.
When a date event is setup to be tracked, cManager will automatically create a Task for the Fee Earner to remind when date due and also an entry of the Fee Earners calendar. See section 3 below on setting these up.
1. Tracking Key Events / Dates for a Case
You can manage key events you'd like to monitor using the Case Dates feature from the Case Details form.
See Section 3 below on how to define which events to track.
You can select a date and time against one of the events already listed and cManager will now track it and remind the Fee Earner on their task list.
If you have a specific date that you want to track for this case and it isn't in the list of standard dates, you can add it by typing the name of the event and selecting the date in the top row as shown below (in blue)
The Add Standard Dates button on the menu bar, re-adds all the standard dates to this case. This is useful if new standard dates have been added or a standard date was removed from this list.
Additional appointment notes can be saved against an event and these will be displayed on the calendar entry.
In addition to adding the event task and calendar appointment for the case fee earner, you can also select which additional shared calendars and task lists this event should be added to. Any additional appointment notes will be shown on the task lists and calendars
When a date is entered against an event, a case task and a calendar appointment can also be created (if configured)
Any dates setup to be Added to a Calendar will also be added to the Fee Earners calendar as shown below.. Optionally the event can also be added to shared folders.
You can double click a reminder from the Calendar to open the related case.
2. Using Key Event Dates in letter templates
Any standard key dates setup will also be available to use in the letter templates. The will be listed under the Case entity when editing letter templates. See image below
Non-Standard dates that have been added to an individual case can not be used in letter templates. If you need to use these dates in a letter, please ask your administrator to setup as shown in section 3 below.
As of cManager v5.27, this has been updated to include Time
3. Define list of standard dates and event to track
To define the event dates you'd like to track, please set them up using the tools -> Custom Dates settings
When adding a Custom Case Date System Parameter the following fields should be completed:-
|Case Type||Set to the Case Type that this Custom Case Date / Event applies to. Eg A = PI, C = Criminal . Each Case Type can have it's own set of Custom Dates|
|Event Description||Please do not use the underscore (_) in the event description as this will cause issues if using this event date in a letter template.|

Add To Calendar
If you only want to record a date for reporting, leave the add to task and add to calendar unticked.
If these are ticked, an task and calendar appointment will be created for the fee earner and any shared calendars
|Auto Create After Date ID||[FEATURE IN DEVELOPMENT AND NOT YET ACTIVE] If you want to automatically create a date event based on another date event, specify the ID of the "parent" id . You can get the ID by Right clicking on the column headings and selecting Column Chooser, then add the ID from the list.|
|Auto Create Days||
You can specify how many days in advance of the current date to set this date as a default
[FEATURE IN DEVELOPMENT AND NOT YET ACTIVE] This is used in conjunction with the above setting to specify the number of days after the parent date (eg. 14 days after the Hearing Date)
|Type||Set to U (for user for any that you create). Do not change any that are set as S (System)|
|Shared Calendars||In addition to the fee earner task list and calendar, Select which additional shared calendars to add this task and appointment to. See Setting up new Shared Calendars on how to add these.|
